High Speed Air Breathing Propulsion: From PDEs to Scramjets

Here is a link to a Powerpoint presentation entitled “High Speed Air Breathing Propulsion: From PDEs to Scramjets” by Dr. Dora Musielak.

PowerPoint Presentation – Powered by Google Docs.

The presentation is part of a talk that was delivered to the AIAA North Texas Chapter meeting held at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas on October 28th, 2010.

The presentation points out the main types of high speed jets such as PDEs, scramjets, etc. and why we need to develop such engines, (e.g., entry to orbit, super fast intercontinental travel), and also highlights the latest developments in this arena, such as the X-51 and the SABRE, among others. The slides explain many basic aerospace concepts and terms and are easy to follow even for the uninitiated.
