It may sound like a far-fetched, overly ambitious idea, but for the purpose of launching satellites into near earth orbit, I do think mass production of one-time use, solid rockets would be the way to go. When you make the craft reusable, costs increase dramatically, because each part has to be made extra-durable. The equipment that allows the craft to return to earth and be located also increases weight, bulk and costs. In addition, you have to factor in the labor that makes the craft ready again for relaunch. All that could be avoided by mass producing rockets for single use. Launch, fall to earth, retrieve rocket if possible, melt the metal or scavenge usable parts.

While, I am on the side of automated mass production, I am not with the whole artificial intelligence thing. I just do not like the idea of machines having too much power over things that could be fired on humans.
